Achievement Foundation – Fundación Lograr
The Achievement Foundation–Fundación Lograr is a non-profit, independent group. Our primary goal is to achieve college success and secure career advancement for students and youth from immigrant families. The Foundation has convened a consortium of more than thirty educational and other organizations involving educators, student service professionals, students, public officials, scholarship administrators, and community-based leaders. Based in Berkeley, California, The Achievement Trust – Fundación Lograr is dedicated to the following tasks:
Hosting the web site…
that provides information about college eligibility requirements, admissions applications, and financial assistance to students, families, student service professionals, and educators as well as public and educational policies that contribute to the success of students and youth from immigrant families and opportunities for social networking on issues of educational achievement, career advancement, public policy, and educational program issues.
Convening community…
and media briefings and town hall forums in partnership with local education and public officials, pilot community college course, as well as workshops and student immigrant service certificate programs for student professionals working in financial aid, registrar, and student academic support areas thus allowing the facilitation campus and regional student financial aid, enrollment, and retention services at the three levels of public higher education, community colleges, California State University campuses, and University of California campuses.
Advocating the support…
and full implementation of student-oriented public policies such as the recently adopted California Dream Acts (AB 130, private funds effective January 1, 2012, and AB 131, publicly supported grants and scholarships available in Fall term 2013), AB 540, and the expansion of state and federal financial assistance as well as improved policies at community colleges and campuses of the CSU and UC systems, and private universities to advance the successful graduation of students from immigrant families.
Conducting original public policy analyses…
with leading experts on advancing educational success for students from immigrant families and facilitating career advancement via effective federal and state policy strategies through the California Technical Assistance to Policy Makers Program (CalTAP) as well as sponsoring a public service and international relations graduate and professional school fellowship program to train future researchers on these topics.
Providing technical assistance…
to private and non-profit groups sponsoring scholarship programs for students from immigrant families.
